Avocado & Honey Face Mask

Instagram: @shewhobelieves_beauty
I had some avocados in the fridge so I decided to make some iced avocado shake. When I was throwing away the skin, I realised that there was some avocado left on the skin so I decided to whip up a quick face mask. This face mask is very easy to make and only consists of two ingredients; avocado and honey. However, there is no rule to what you can add or subtract to tailor it for your specific skin needs.

Avocado has many health benefits such as containing healthy fats (monounsaturated) that are actually essential for our overall health. Avocado also has many benefits for our skin, such as:

1) Monounsaturated fats: improve skin tone, maintains skins moisture and helpsskin feel soft and look healthy
2) Omega-9 fats: reduces redness, reduces irritation and repairs damaged skin cells
3) Vitamin E: guards the skin from photoageing from sun exposure
4) Vitamin C: involved in the creation of elastin and collagen for maintaining skins elasticity and firmness

Honey also has many internal and external health benefits such as acting as an anti-bacterial in wound healing (*hint* acne!!), a natural moisturiser and a natural skin protectant from sun damage which leads to premature ageing. To see another face mask using honey, check out my black seed, honey, lemon and olive oil face mask for acne prone skin.

How to make & use

1) In a bowl, add the avocado and squash together to form a paste like consistency
2) Add honey, as much or as little as you want and mix together
3) Apply to a clean face, keep on for 10-15 minutes and rinse off
4) Pat your face dry and apply moisturiser. I personally prefer applying coconut oil

It is best to use this mask straight away so to avoid throwing the left overs away, only make how much you'll need. Keeping left overs in the fridge will reduce the freshness and may not be as effective.
